Happy Sunday

After a gray, rainy Saturday, I've awakened to a gorgeous blue sky and bright sunshine.  I'm hoping to spend some time outside today in this beautiful weather (and my hopes that it will be by a sparkling pool).

This week has been kind of dull and not too much excitement (just the way I like it).  I've been collecting cans for our Open Door Ministry Pantry.  The summer months are the hardest on the local food banks.  Almost all of the area pantries around us are low on food.  I have asked friends, co-workers, and teammates to step up to the plate.  I've been so pleased with those who have.  I'll make my delivery tomorrow.  The collecting won't stop, though.  They make grocery bags every week.  Food must be constantly coming in to assist those who need it.  Check with your local pantry and see what you can do to help.  You'd be surprised what $10 can buy at Aldi's or WalMart.

Friday night, our mixed doubles team played our first match in the playoffs.  We didn't win, but my teammates played their hearts out.  I was proud to be playing with such great players.  I'm hoping next year we can that much better. I wish there was a mixed doubles league for the fall, but I'll settle for my women's combo doubles team.  I must say that I am so glad to be back playing on the court.

This coming week, I'm volunteering at the PGA Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, NC, at Sedgefield Country Club. I hope the weather will hold and it will be a good time.  We're volunteering through work and I think it will certainly give me plenty to post about next week.

Have a great week!
xoxo,
Laurie

That's a great idea with the pantries as times have not gotten any easier for many.

Your work for the food bank sounds great! I volunteered at a bereavement camp for years, but decided it was time for a change and I've been trying to find something to replace that service aspect that was such an important part of my life!
